For me, Thanksgiving Day used to be about family, food, and football. However, that’s not what it means to me anymore. Don’t get me wrong, I love the time with my family, the food, and football. However, the day is more about the beginning of a season when I reflect on all that God has done—what He’s brought me through and where He’s leading me.

Personally, my hearing is still a struggle with one ear that remains unstable, but I'm able to communicate better in many situations after my recent cochlear implant surgery. I am thankful for each of the individuals who have walked through their own hearing issues who have shared their experiences and their counsel with me.

With the film, we just hit the four year mark since we began this journey. That's longer than my original two-year expectation and it has been more difficult than I ever imagined. However, it’s also been much more rewarding than I ever thought possible. God works through the pain—I see it regularly through the stories of others and through the production of this film.

I'm thankful for everyone who has been involved in the journey of For A Purpose: Hope in a Broken World. It's humbling to see the way that God continues to provide---even in the difficult moments. We've seen unexpected provision and closed doors lead to greater blessings or better things. I'm thankful for each person who has helped make important connections. For those of you who have given your time and your talents to move this film forward. For those who have provided encouragement when it was needed most. For those who have faithfully prayed for the work of this film. And for those who have become financial partners.

This morning I was invited by J.D. Hill (one of our cast members) to attend a Thanksgiving meal for foster children. It was hosted by a local pizzeria and although the slices went fast, each attendee's attention was focused on J.D. and others who were sharing with the children the message of the Gospel.

The kids got to hear real life examples of how God rescued them from their trouble. Testimonies of how God has used pain for His purpose. The owners of the pizzeria are both recovering addicts who sought to serve these kids, and, no doubt, to have an impact that will influence the trajectory of their lives.

In addition to seeing how blessed the kids were, it was beautiful to see so many men and women focusing their time and efforts on giving rather than receiving. Today I am very thankful. Thankful for these examples of serving others and their stories of God's powerful work in their lives.

The production of For A Purpose is possible thanks to the financial support of donors for whom we are so grateful! If you're led to help in this way and join with others who are helping make this a quality film to impact lives for eternity, please contact us or use the button below to make a tax deductible donation via our fiscal sponsor. Thank you!

Wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving!
