Ripple Effect: Are you able to throw a stone?

Updated: Sep 15

Did you ever stand by the side of a pond or a lake and throw stones out as far as you could?  Both Jim and I have such memories from childhood (and perhaps even a more recent vacation or two). We love the splash as a rock hits the surface and then to watch an area of concentric circles grow from the point of impact.

This is what is happening with For A Purpose right now.

A number of people are throwing stones and there are lots of great ripple effects that are growing the For A Purpose community. We see God working through the widening area affected by ripples.

Here’s just one recent example. The Lord has touched the heart of someone from our church community from more than a decade ago. He sees how For A Purpose can touch lives and heal hearts. He is throwing stones—making introduction after introduction—even when he doesn’t know how God might use what he’s doing. We see God using those stones to create ripples that are helping move the film forward!

Among the many introductions is a Christian business executive. That executive requested that Jim make a two-minute fundraising video that he could use to share with other businesses that might want to contribute financially or partner in some way. Several people before this have encouraged Jim to start making personal videos to share on the progress of the film, but he has been very uncomfortable with the idea, so it remained on the “to do” list without a lot of action. This ripple propelled him forward.

God always seems to work the most when we’re most uncomfortable...

God always seems to work the most when we’re most uncomfortable and this was the case once again. This particular video is already being used to introduce the film to others and continues making ripples. It's certainly a reminder of how God can---and does--move through others. This film is much bigger than one person. It’s a testimony of God’s greatness as He moves through His people.

This one person has created ripple effect that is widespread. His engagement and actions related to the film are answers to prayer. So are the efforts of so many other folks in our growing For A Purpose community. Your support matters. It is making a difference!

If you want to help cause a ripple effect, here's what you can do.

Tell Others: Who do you know who needs to hear about this film? Someone who is hurting right now? Please share our website or have them sign up for updates.

Introduce Us: Do you know individuals, foundations, or ministry leaders who would have an interest in seeing this film impact lives for Christ? Please introduce us so we can tell them more.

Pray: We covet your prayers for this community, the film, and the people that it will reach. These updates fill you in on areas of need and opportunity, but if you would like to sign up for our prayer team, please email Jim (jim@forapurposemovie.com)

We are depending on the Lord and He is using our community to meet the needs in the making of this film. We invite you to be part of that in whatever ways you feel led.

We need each stone. Each ripple. We are grateful for every prayer, every introduction, every bit of support. Through all of it, we are seeing God move. This is something that is impacting lives and will impact many more. In the coming months, we'll share more exciting news including some new interviews that are being set up.

Will you pick up a stone and see what kind of ripples you can make for For A Purpose and the kingdom?

God Bless,

Susan David

Producer/Business Manager

For those of you who have made financial contributions to the film—thank you!! They are answers to prayer as we move forward with new interviews and the expenses that go with them. We look forward to sharing that news soon. Our financial need is still great, so please continue to share that need with others.
